Any recollections (photos?) of our balloon-release event?

Fading into the mists is an amusing event several of us organized and pulled off on what was some sort of "senior day" in June -- that is, we had finished exams and the day off, while the underclasspeople were still in school.

The plan was to have a large parade of cars drive slowly past RRHS laden with helium balloons and banners "62 sez 'check your pants'".  At some point, the convertibles in front and at the rear of the 10 - 15 car group retracted their tops, releasing their balloons, and people in closed cars pushed their balloons out.

I remember thinking this was a pretty neat concept, reasonably complex to organize without cellphones, etc., and well-executed -- I remember classroom windows filling with spectators and getting good reports from underclass friends.

Preparations involved a fairly large group that assembled at George Purdy's house, where we filled balloons and cars, arranged the spray-painted sheets, etc., and drove off to the school.  Amazingly, I don't remember any repercussions at all from the tightly-wound administration, and am pleased to vaguely remember hearing from a couple of teachers that they thought the episode was pretty cool (this, despite the faculty never being sure what "check your pants" meant, or whether it was something to be worried about).

Anyway, if any of the participants happen to have photos, or recall other details of the adventure, I'd be happy to see or hear about them.

Thanks for the laugh Paul.  I don't have much of a recollection of the balloon episode, but I sure do remember the popularity of the "check your pants" gambit having been the brunt of it many times until I caught on.  I really hadn't thought much about that since I pulled it on my nephew in a crowded room some years ago.

I remember the balloons, and the convertibles which only had to raise the ragtop to let loose the balloons. I also remember someone going into the auditorium and opening the exit doors to the outside and some students going in with the balloons.
